Cara Thompson, from Cockenzie in East Lothian, was out visiting Edinburgh Zoo with her two children Willow, five, and Bernie, five months, when she lost her baby’s treasured gift.
The blue blanket, pictured, was knitted for Bernie by Jean Mitchell, Cara’s late grandmother, who died suddenly aged 83 in September this year.

"It would honestly mean the world to me if it was found,” she said.
"It is knitted with love and you just can't beat home knitting.
“My son was born in May this year, and thankfully, with the restrictions going on, he got to meet my Grandma twice.

The blanket was lost at about 2pm on Sunday, 18 October when Cara was lifting her son’s pram into her car parked in the Edinburgh Zoo car park.
She has since posted pictures of her baby boy wrapped in the blanket on social media in the hope that someone will recognise it.
"People have been in touch saying they have seen it placed on a car bonnet, another person said they saw a couple with it,” she added.
Cara said the missing blanket is about 70cm by 70cm.

"My Grandma, first knitted this same pattern blanket for my daughter,” Cara said.
"So I couldn’t wait when we found out we were expecting my son for another to be knitted by her.
"It would mean the world to find it.”
Cara said if anyone has any information that might help her find the missing blue blanket, or has spotted it, then to contact her via email on [email protected].
