A drunk-driver more than five times over the legal limit for alcohol was arrested and charged after police pulled him over on Ferry Road.

Officers working with Edinburgh Roads Policing stopped the vehicle yesterday after stopping the damage to the front wheel.

Pictures show a damaged rim and the tyre almost completely detached.

The driver, a male, was arrested and charged with various road traffic offences.

Road Policing Scotland said on Twitter: "#EdinburghRP stopped this vehicle on Ferry Road due to the front tyre becoming detached from the rim.

"Driver provided a positive breath sample of 123mcg ,the legal limit being 22. Male driver arrested and charged with various road traffic offences.#notworththerisk"
