Edinburgh finance worker on sex offenders register after assault

A FINANCE worker who assaulted a foreign exchange student as she lay in bed in his parents' Edinburgh home has been placed on the sex offenders register.

William Murray-Uren attacked the American teenager by forcing himself upon her and trying to kiss her on the mouth. Murray-Uren also made sexual comments to the 18-year-old during the assault.

Accounts assistant Murray-Uren, 23, son of top heart specialist Neal Uren, had been on a night out with friends in Edinburgh before he returned to his parents’ home.

He then entered the bedroom in which the woman was staying and launched his attack.

The teenage student, from the New York area, had been enjoying a trip to Scotland and had been a guest of the 
Murray-Uren family when the incident took place in June 2014.
