Edinburgh police called to Lochend Road after reports of 'firearms incident' at nearby Scotmid shop
Police have been called to the city's Lochend Road following multiple local reports of a firearms incident at a nearby Scotmid shop.
A police spokesman said: "Police Scotland attended at Lochend Road, Edinburgh in connection with an ongoing investigation. Inquiries are continuing."
It is understood that officers are still in attendance.
Police are not able to provide any more details on the circumstances of the incident at this stage.
A worker in the Scotmid shop in nearby Restalrig Road South said they were not allowed to speak to media when asked by The Evening News about the nature of the incident.
