Edinburgh police dealt with 141 '999' calls a day on average throughout December

The Edinburgh Police official twitter and Facebook accounts posted a video giving a roundup of police activity throughout the month.

A total of 13,576 calls were made to police and 4,371 of those were classed as '999' emergencies, the equivalent of 141 a day on average.

Other key figures included 2,441 anti-social behaviour incidents - an average of 78 each day - and 256 missing person reports.

Officers also recorded 150 road traffic offences and 560 road traffic collisions in December.

The monthly roundup also highlighted the policing of big football matches like the Boxing Day Edinburgh derby, and welcomed several new officers to the Edinburgh division.
