Fall in police staff sickness

THE number of sick days taken by police staff has dropped, new figures have shown.

A total of 4.9 per cent of available working days among civilian workers was lost due to illness between last April and the end of December. The figure for the same period the year before was 5.3 per cent.

A scheme designed to reduce sick days among staff with Lothian and Borders Police, which had soared to be the highest among Scottish forces, was introduced last year.
