Emergency services - including armed police - rushed to a an address in Penicuik this morning after erroneous reports of a gunman.
A call was put into police at around 08:55 this morning and armed police were quickly dispatched to the scene near Beeslack Community High School in Penicuik.
Ambulance crew were also present and attended the scene in the the Ladywood area of Penicuik.
In a statement, Police Scotland said the incident was a “false alarm with good intent”.
Officers have added that there is no threat to the public.
