Fox spotted running through Edinburgh with arrow in its back leg

Residents have raised concerns about the injured animal.

A fox has been seen running through the streets of Edinburgh with an arrow in its back leg.

The injured animal was spotted limping along Milton Road West, in the Duddingston area of the city on Tuesday evening.

A concerned resident who saw the fox is asking neighbours to keep an eye out for it and report any sightings of the animal to the SSPCA.

In a post on Facebook she said: “Last night we saw an adult fox running about our street of Milton Road West with an arrow sticking out of its hind quarters. It was clearly distressed and had left the street by the time we got out to look for it.

“We don’t feed them but they regularly come through our garden and one had a cub recently.

“I have reported this to the Scottish SSPCA and they have the details, should you see the fox please contact them in the hope that they can help.”

Scottish SPCA chief superintendent Mike Flynn said: “A member of the public reported to have spotted a fox with an object resembling a stick or arrow protruding from its leg in the Duddingston area of Edinburgh last night.

“The fox was still mobile so had disappeared by the time we were alerted to the injured animal.

“If anyone sees the fox then they should not try and approach it but should immediately contact our animal helpline on 03000 999 999 so we can provide the fox with the care it needs.”
