FAMILY friend Peter Swanson, who has run Gladstone’s pub in the Capital for the past 30 years, has known Shaun for years.
He had been enjoying a night out with the footballer when tragedy struck.
Speaking to the Evening News, Swanson, 56, said he felt like he had let down Shaun’s dad Peter.
He also spoke of his anger over the four year sentence. He said: “We’d had a great night with no incidents and no problems.
“These guys are proven liars because they’ve been found guilty - and they get 5.6 years. It’s scandalous. It’s unbelievable and I’m raging - we’ve been let down by every single organisation, the police, the courts.” Referring to Shaun’s dad, Kevin. Peter added: “I feel like I’ve let him down.”
