George IV Bridge: Multiple police vehicles attend emergency incident in central Edinburgh

George IV Bridge in Edinburgh was locked down late last night as emergency services responded to a report of concern for a man in the city centre.

Multiple ambulances, police cars, and fire engines were photographed at the scene, where officers taped off the pavements and blocked the roadway from traffic in both directions at 11:40pm.

The bridge reopened at 1:30am, when police said the man was found safely.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services were called to George IV Bridge in Edinburgh around 11.40pm on Thursday, 17 September following a report of a concern for a man.

“He was traced safe and well. The road was closed as a precaution and reopened around 1.30am.”
