A man has been hospitalised after two men attacked him in the south of the city.
The 29-year-old suffered three broken ribs in the attack on Gilmerton Road, near Glenallan Drive, on Saturday morning between 6am and 7am.
One of the suspects is described as a ginger-haired male of lean to medium build, white, 5ft 10in tall and in his early 20s.
He spoke with a local accent and wore navy blue cotton bottoms and a light blue Adidas hooded top.
Police are urging any witnesses to come forward.
Sergeant Robbie Wallace said: “This serious assault left the victim with three fractured ribs and so we are appealing for anyone in Gilmerton Road between 6am and 7am to get in touch with police.
