Luke Mitchell mum faces court over ‘no MOT’ claim

THE MUM of convicted murderer Luke Mitchell is facing court action over allegations she didn’t have an MOT for a car that she was driving.

Prosecutors allege that Corrine Mitchell’s car wasn’t fit for its purpose and that police discovered this in in Eskview Road, Dalkeith, Midlothian, on November 21 last year.

The crown has decided to prosecute Ms Mitchell, of Dalkeith, Midlothian, in Edinburgh’s Justice of the Peace court.

However, she wasn’t present in court when the case was called on Wednesday afternoon.

The Crown asked for the case to be continued until next month. Prosecutors want to write to Ms Mitchell, 55, at her home in order to gain more information about how she intends to plead with regard to the claim. The court allowed the crown’s request.

Ms Mitchell is the mother of 25-year-old Luke, who was was convicted of the murder of his 14-year-old girlfriend Jodi Jones in 2005.

The tragic teenager’s remains were discovered on a footpath near her home in Dalkeith in June 2003.

The case against Ms Mitchell will next call on June 18 2014.
