Mystery surrounds the sudden death of a 29-year-old man in a residential street.

The man died in Alexander Road in Glenrothes, Fife last night (Tuesday).

Police have launched an investigation into the death which, while there are no apparent suspicious circumstances, remains unexplained.

A police spokesman said: "Police Scotland was made aware of the sudden death of a 29-year-old man on Alexander Road in Glenrothes around 9.15pm on Tuesday, 19 May.

"The death is being treated as unexplained pending the outcome of a post mortem examination, although there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
