David Watt is alleged to have sent written communication to bosses at both Forth Bridges, Murrayfield Stadium and Waverley railway station informing them a bomb would explode on the premises.

Watt, from Balerno, near Edinburgh, is also accused of writing to Edinburgh Airport management on two occasions and a number of capital schools stating a bomb has been placed on the grounds.

The 40-year-old accused appeared in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday where he maintained his not guilty pleas.

He denies writing letters inferring a bomb has been placed at the Forth Bridges, Waverley station, Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh Airport, Dean Park primary school and Balerno high school between February 13 and April 16 last year.

Sheriff Frank Crowe set a trial date down for May 9.
