Man arrested following hit and run in Dalkeith

A man driving under the influence of drugs has been arrested and charged following a hit and run collision in Dalkeith .

The incident occurred on Eskbank Road on Wednesday August 10th with officers stopped a Vauxhall Vectra on the A6094 near Tesco’s Hardengreen shortly after.

A 45-year-old driver has since been charged for driving under the influence of drugs and failing to stop.

A quantity of cannabis was also recovered from the vehicle.

The man is expected to appear in court at a later date.

No one was injured during the collision.

Inspector Neil Mitchell of Dalkeith police said: “Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs puts not only the driver, but other road users at risk and such offences will not be tolerated.

“Road Policing Officers regularly monitor all main arterial routes and any motorists found to be driving in a manner that puts the public in danger will be appropriately dealt with.”
