A motorcyclist was taken to hospital after a two-vehicle collision in the Southside area of Edinburgh.

A Renault Clio collided with a motorcycle in Nicolson Street on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency services were made aware of the incident at around 5.20pm and police subsequently closed the road.

The motorcycle rider was taken to hospital but did not sustain any injuries.

Police said the road was reopened by 8pm.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Police came across a two vehicle road traffic crash on Nicolson Street in Edinburgh around 5.20pm on Thursday 26 December 2019. A Renault Clio was in collision with a motorcycle. The male rider of the motorcycle was taken to hospital by ambulance, however was found not to have been injured.

"The road was closed at the scene for about two hours."
