Musselburgh police investigate reports of assault on a 15-year-old girl

Police in Musselburgh are investigating a report of an assault on a 15-year-old girl alleged to have happened yesterday afternoon.

Officers said the attack happened on land adjacent to Clark Avenue in the town between 4:30pm and 5:15pm on Monday, September 14.

One local resident reported seeing police and a forensics team working in the Pinkie Road area of the town.

Police said locals may notice an increased number of officers while they investigate.

In a statement, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of an assault on a 15-year-old girl on land off Clark Avenue in Musselburgh which happened between 4.30pm and 5.15pm on Monday, 14 September.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. This investigation is at an early stage and the local community may notice a police presence in the area while they progress."
