Pennywell Road crash: Woman suffers serious injuries after being hit by car on zebra crossing in Edinburgh

A woman is being treated in hospital for serious injuries after she was hit by a car on a zebra crossing.

The 34-year-old was crossing Pennywell Road in Edinburgh with a man, also 34, when both of them were struck by a silver Mercedes on Wednesday, 7 October at about 3.30pm.

The woman was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where she is currently being treated for serious injuries, while the man was left unharmed.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

Sergeant Peter Scott for Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and we are looking to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Pennywell Road yesterday afternoon around 15.15pm.

“We would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened or observed a silver Mercedes on the road to please get in touch. We would also ask any motorists with dash-cams who were in the area to check their footage in case they have captured anything which could be of significance.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1904 of Wednesday 7 October 2020.”
