Pervert struck off teachers’ register

AN art teacher who had sex with two pupils in a tent, at the beach and his mother’s home has been struck off.

Christopher Cunningham, 58, has already served a 12-month jail term for his “gross” breach of trust, committed while he was a teacher at West Calder High School in West Lothian.

His case appeared yesterday before a disciplinary committee of the General Teaching Council for Scotland.

The committee heard that Cunningham – who did not turn up – had written a letter in which he accepted the conviction was a “relevant offence”.

Committee convener Jason Fitzgerald said: “The conviction was a result of behaviour incompatible with being a registered teacher.”
