Police and paramedics called to Edinburgh street after two car crash involving eight people

Police and paramedics were called to a street in the south of Edinburgh this afternoon following a two car crash.

The collision in Clippens Drive, Burdiehouse, happened at about 3:45pm. Local residents suggested one of the vehicles also struck a fence.

Several residents and motorists reported seeing a high emergency services presence in the area, with some suggesting between a dozen and 20 vehicles.

A police spokesman said the high police and ambulance response was due to four people being in each of the two cars.

The spokesman confirmed that there were no serious injuries and the road has since reopened.

The Scottish Ambulance Service has also been contacted for comment.
