Police appealing for witnesses following thefts of vehicles and hare coursing in Haddington

Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of an all-terrain vehicle and a trailer that occurred from a business in Haddington.

The incident happened at around 11:30am on Sunday 17 November when a silver or grey Mitsubishi motor vehicle entered the yard at Thomas Sheriff and Co on Letham Road in Haddington.

Four men got out of the vehicle and stole a silver Ifor Williams trailer and a John Deere ‘Gator’ utility vehicle.

They put the Gator on the trailer and towed it away with the silver Mitsubishi. The registration plate of the car could not be made out due to it being covered in mud or dirt.

Earlier that day at 10:10am, a similiar silver Mitsubishi vehicle was seen in a field near to Fenton Barns.

The occupants of the vehicle were suspected to be hare coursing. A further call was received about males hare coursing in the same area but no vehicle was seen.

Police say that at the moment, it is unclear whether or not these incidents are connected.
