Police cordon off Leith street after incident which left man, 32, with 'serious' injuries

Police cordoned off a Leith street this morning following an incident in the early hours which left a man with serious injuries.

Officers were called to Tower Place shortly before 1:20am on Sunday.

Pictures shared on social media show a police vehicle parked in the area, close to the Water of Leith.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 1.17am on Sunday, 31 May, 2020, to a report of a concern for a person in Tower Place, Edinburgh.

“A 32-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened.”

The spokesperson confirmed that no one was in the water at any point.
