Police investigation into alleged Leith sex assault finds no criminality

Officers have confirmed investigations into an alleged rape near a place of worship in Edinburgh have closed with no prosecutions made.

Police were called last week following a report of a girl, 17, being raped during an early morning attack near South Leith Parish Church in Constitution Street on Thursday, 22 October.

Following investigations into the alleged incident, officers have confirmed no criminal action has taken place and the case is now closed.

In a statement released on Monday, 26 October, a police spokeswoman said: “Following extensive investigations, no criminality was established.”
