Police issue urgent appeal after armed robbery in Livingston

Police in Livingston are appealing for information after an armed robbery at a store in Ladywell.

The incident happened at a shop in Thymebank around 4.55pm on Monday, 20 April, 2020.

Officers said a man entered the store and brandished a knife, threatening staff to open the register, and stealing “a three figure sum of cash.”

Police believe the man fled the shop on foot and headed towards Sedgebank, Ladywell.

Detectives described the man as white, aged in his late teens to early 20s, with a slim build, 5ft 9in to 5ft 11in tall and spoke with a local accent.

His face was covered and he was wearing a dark coloured hooded top, dark coloured tracksuit bottoms with dark trainers and dark gloves.

Detective Sergeant Douglas Gilmour of West Lothian CID said: “This was a frightening experience for the staff member present, thankfully nobody was injured in the incident.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to identify the man responsible, including reviewing CCTV from the area.

“Anyone who believes they may have information which could help identify the man or who was in the area at the time of the robbery is urged to contact police as soon as they can.”
