Police release image of suspect following racist incident on Murrayfield tram

Police have released the image of a man in connect to a racist incident on board a tram at Murrayfield.

Officers wish to speak to the man following an incident which took place on board a tram on Wednesday 24 February at around 5pm.

The images have been released to aid the investigation with officers being keen to hear from anyone who can identify the man as they believe that he may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The man is described as between 18-25 years old, of large build and with short hair that was shaved at the sides.

At the time of this incident, he wore a light-coloured jacket and black headphones around his neck.

PC David Hughes of Westerhailes Police Station said: “We will not and do not tolerate anyone involved in such unacceptable behaviour.

“This level of unprovoked abuse is quite frankly disgusting.

“We have carried out a number of lines of inquiry in an effort to trace the person responsible.

“I would urge anyone who recognises this man, or who may have any other information, to contact police immediately on 101 or alternatively the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 should you wish to remain anonymous.”
