Police warning after card-skimming device found on ATM

CARD-SKIMMING fraud has been reported in the Lothians - sparking a police warning to the public.

The alert came after a man entered his bank card into an ATM on Dalkeith High Street.

An error message then appeared, no cash was given and the card was not returned.

Shortly afterwards, he reported the incident to bank staff, who advised that there had been further withdrawals from the account.

PC Alannah Langley, based in Bonnyrigg, said: “Always be on the look out for irregularities at ATMs. Signs to watch out for include a different colour or material around the card slot, or any parts around the card slot or key pad which may feel loose.”
