Rage driver guilty weeks after his test

A YOUNG driver chased after another motorist in a road-rage fury just weeks after passing his driving test, a court heard.

Lewis Wark tailgated the car being driven by Ryan Creighton while driving at “excessive speed”.

The 17-year-old then overtook the other car by driving his Renault Clio Extreme round the wrong side of a traffic island.

When Mr Creighton’s car came to a halt after crashing into the kerb, Wark tried to open the driver’s door and raised a bottle at him.

Livingston Sheriff Court was told of the terrifying incident during Wark’s trial yesterday.

The driver changed his plea to guilty after Chloe McGrath, 16, a passenger in Mr Creighton’s car, told the court how frightened she had been.

Wark, of Bathgate, West Lothian, admitted driving dangerously and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause fear or alarm.

His pleas of not guilty to repeatedly trying to force Mr Creighton’s car off the road and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place were accepted.

Sheriff Martin Edington adjourned the case for three weeks for reports.
