Nursery manager Susan Johnston told the Edinburgh Evening News: “It’s terrible.

“Absolutely terrible.

“The van was used to take our children to school and after school clubs and things.

“It was still full of their booster seats.

"We just can’t believe it.”

Ms Johnston added: “We do have another minibus but all the children can’t fit in it.

“We’re going to have to try and use some of the staff’s cars, and some of the children who go to more local schools will walk.

“We are thankful that the sun will be shining this week, that’s something.

“To think that someone would do this, it’s just really sad.”

The nursery contacted the police to report the missing bus.
