Royston stabbing suspect hunted down by police dog

A HERO police dog chased down a suspect and helped officers make arrests after reports of a stabbing.

Officers swarmed on two suspects after a 30-year-old man was seriously assaulted in the Royston area on Thursday afternoon.

One of the men arrested, also aged 30, was expected to appear in court today on multiple charges accused of trying to flee in a stolen car.

Police German Shepherd, PD Cruz, gave chase after the car was found dumped.

A police spokesman said: “Police in Edinburgh arrested two men, aged 30 and 49, in connection with the serious assault of a 30-year-old man in Royston Mains Gardens around 2.15pm on Thursday 19th July.

“The 30-year-old man has been charged in connection with the assault, a vehicle theft and road traffic offences.

“He was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday 20th July and enquiries are ongoing.”
