AN investigation has been launched following a suspicious fire at a house in Wester Hailes this morning.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the blaze at 4am in Calder Gardens.
The occupant were woken after the front door had been set alight. However, they all escaped uninjured.
The fire service were able to quickly extinguish the flames before any further damage could be caused to the property and police are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.
Detective Inspector Rory Hamilton said: “Our enquiries into the circumstances surrounding this incident are ongoing. However, we are satisfied that the fire was started deliberately.
“Fortunately, no one from inside the house suffered any injury. However, this could have had far more serious consequences had the flames spread prior to the occupants waking.
“Anyone who was in Calder Gardens this morning and remembers seeing anything suspicious should call 101.”,
