Thief pulls knife on brave neighbour who confronted him in Edinburgh

A BRAVE neighbour was threatened with a knife after confronting a suspected thief outside homes in the middle of the night.

Police were called to Sighthill Drive shortly before 2am yesterday.

Residents raised the alarm after the suspect tried to break into a blue Subaru Impreza and a white van.

“I heard my car alarm going off and then police came to the door,” said owner of the Impreza, Jamie Thompson, 28.

“Then I heard that a neighbour had been threatened with the knife. I’m not sure if it was the man or woman who live there.

“It looks like he was trying to break into cars and have a rummage about.

“I’ve got a loud alarm and didn’t have anything taken. There’s a wee scratch on the car but I don’t know whether that was there before.”

A police spokesman said: “We were called to Sighthill Drive at 1.45am to reports of a man acting suspiciously. Inquiries are ongoing.”
