A Tranent bed and breakfast owner has been robbed by a guest.

The incident happened yesterday morning at a guest house in Carlaverock Avenue.

The female proprietor was restrained by a male guest and robbed of a three-figure sum of cash.

The suspect is described as white, 5ft 8ins - 5ft 10ins, early forties with a slim build, ginger hair and with a west of Scotland accent. He was wearing a blue anorak, jeans and was in possession of a grey holdall.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The woman was uninjured during this incident, but was left very distressed at ordeal.

“Anyone who can help identify the male responsible is asked to contact police immediately on 101.”
