Two men have been arrested and charged by officers in East Lothian as part of a crackdown on violent crime.
The two were arrested following separate incidents in Haddington.
In the early hours of Sunday police responded to reports of a disturbance at an address in the town’s Herdmanflatt.
A 20-year-old man was subsequently charged with a breach of the peace and possession of a knife.
The following day a man was found in the street at Kirkview in possession of a pole and an axe.
The 39-year-old was arrested and charged and is due to appear at Haddington Sheriff Court today
Inspector Ian MacKay said: “Police Scotland is committed to keeping people safe and crimes of violence will not be tolerated.
“Carrying an offensive weapon is a criminal offence and anyone found to be in possession of such an item can expect to be dealt with by police.”
