Vehicle set on fire in Dalkieth

Police in Midlothian are appealing for witnesses after a vehicle was intentionally set on fire.

The incident happened about 11.10pm on Saturday March 11 outside an address at Bill Russell Grove, Dalkeith.

The suspect has been seen smashing the vehicle window and setting it on fire causing substantial damage and also damaging a vehicle parked nearby.

He is described as 16-18 years old, 5ft 11ins, slim build. He was wearing a grey hoodie with the hood up, black jacket, grey tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.

Detective Constable James Welsh of Dalkeith Police Station said: “This deliberate act has caused the vehicle owner a great deal of distress and upset about the damage that has been inflicted on her car.

“We’re still conducting enquiries in order to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and are eager to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or recognise the suspect description.”

“Anyone who may have seen suspicious behaviour in the area around this time is asked to get in touch as soon as possible.”
