Whitburn fraudster faked cashpoint robbery

A BENEFITS claimant faked a robbery so he could claim a crisis loan.

Robert Millar went to a police station claiming someone had stolen £150 from him at Whitburn Post Office cash machine.

But when officers viewed CCTV, they found that no crime had been committed. Within minutes of being challenged, Millar, 46, admitted making the whole thing up.

The unemployed offender, from Whitburn, yesterday pleaded guilty at Livingston Sheriff Court to wasting police time on January 21 and was fined £125.
