TWO women who mugged a 63-year-old woman for her handbag in Whitburn on Saturday night are being hunted by police.

The victim was walking on the footpath in Jubilee Road around 7pm when she was grabbed by the arm.

In the ensuing struggle she fell to the ground and her attackers, aged between the age of 25 to 30, ran off,

Both were wearing dark quilted jackets with fur, with their hoods up, dark trousers and dark trainers.

Door to door inquiries are being carried out in the area, and officers are working to source any available CCTV footage.

Detective Constable Richard Thompson of Police Scotland said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area or who may have seen the suspects. As a result of the attack the woman sustained an injury to her hand and has been left badly shaken by the incident”.

“This has been a terrible experience for the woman involved and we are appealing to members of the public for any information they may have as to who might have been responsible”.
