A RETIRED social worker from Edinburgh collapsed and died after cycling all the way back to his native Herefordshire to attend a funeral.

Andy Hunter, 60, was found collapsed alongside his bike at the side of the road. It is believed he suffered a heart attack.

Mr Hunter worked for 25 years in social services and retired in 2009 as a day services manager for Garvald Edinburgh, which provides services for adults with learning disabilities. He had also been a storyteller for 20 years.
