A CYCLIST is in a critical condition in hospital after a crash with a car on Musselburgh’s High Street.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident which happened around 9.30pm on Friday as the black Volkswagen Polo turned right into Dalrymple Loan.

The 59-year-old male cyclist taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious head injuries and is currently in a critical but stable condition in the Western General Hospital. The 19-year-old female car driver was uninjured.

PC Murray Haldane from Police Scotland said: “An investigation is underway in order to establish the circumstances, and we are appealing to any witnesses who may have seen the collision, or the pedal cyclist prior to the collision.”
