HUNDREDS have taken part in a 70-mile cycling challenge around the Firth of Forth to raise funds for families living in poverty across the globe.

City charity Mercy Corps’ first Tour de Forth started and finished at Ocean Terminal yesterday.

The route took participants across the Forth Road Bridge, into Fife, through Kincardine, over the Clackmannanshire Bridge and back to Edinburgh through the Hopetoun House estate.

Lisa Seymour, co-ordinator, said: “After the fantastic performance of Team GB cycling at the Olympics, we were overwhelmed with hundreds of people signing up to take part in the Tour de Forth event.”
