Cyclist’s worry over increase in attacks

A CYCLIST has described the assault of a man on a busy cycle path as a worrying incident for the area.

Police are investigating after a 37-year-old man was assaulted while cycling in the Corbiehill area at around 6.30pm on Tuesday

It is understood he passed a group of around 30 youths and then became involved in a dispute with them before he was struck in the face. Another cyclist, who asked not to be named, said he had stopped to offer the man help after the attack.

He said: “There is a growing number of incidents involving unruly behaviour towards cyclists.”

A police spokesman said: “Inquiries are ongoing to trace the suspect, who is described as white, 15 years old and wearing a hooded top with a scarf covering his face.”
