‘Da Vinci Code’ rapist to be freed

THE man dubbed the “Da Vinci Code rapist” is to be released from prison after serving just two-thirds of his sentence, it was reported today.

Robert Greens, 33, was jailed for the 2005 rape of a 19-year-old Dutch student near Rosslyn Chapel, Midlothian, which features in the Dan Brown novel.

He is now set for release in January, but will have to be so closely monitored that it will cost £1.2 million a year to keep track of him, it is claimed.

He will reportedly have to live under supervision for up to six months and after that will be managed by a team of police officers, social workers and health professionals.

It is thought he is likely to be banned from Penicuik, where his family and his ex-wife’s relatives are based.

A Scottish Government spokeswoman said: “All serious offenders who are released on licence are closely supervised in the community.”
