Dig into past at museum

Become an archaeology detective, see if your finds are valuable and hear from dig ex-perts about their research at the National Museum of Scotland.

A range of free workshops are on offer at the museum’s Archaeology Detectives event this weekend.

Families will be able to see what evidence they can excavate in a reconstruction dig pit, sort through their finds and try out ancient technologies.

Participants are also invited to bring along archaeological finds from their garden for analysis by experts from the Treasure Trove Unit and National Museums Scotland.

Archaeologists and curators will choose their top five exhibits in the museum and explain their significance.
