Dog walkers on tight leash

THE commercial dog-walking trade in Edinburgh is a step closer to being formally regulated.

A motion by Councillor Ricky Henderson, calling for Edinburgh City Council to investigate the possibility of licensing the trade, has been passed by the regulatory committee.

Cllr Henderson said he brought the motion after constituents had been alarmed after they were jumped on by a pack of dogs in the care of a commercial dog walker.

A maximum number of dogs which a walker would be allowed to walk at one time could be set.
