Drink-drive businessman may lose job

A BUSINESSMAN will lose his job after being convicted of drink driving, a court has heard.

Dad-of-three Scott Wilkinson, 47, was caught by police driving erratically in Gilmerton Road, Edinburgh, at 1.20am on September 23, 2011.

Officers discovered Wilkinson – who had wine with a meal at a friend’s house earlier in the evening – was one-and-a-half times the legal alcohol limit.

Wilkinson, of Liberton, Edinburgh, pleaded guilty to drink driving before Sheriff Roderick MacLeod at the city’s Sheriff Court.

It is his second drink driving conviction in ten years.

After hearing how he will lose his job at the end of the month, Sheriff MacLeod imposed a £400 fine on Wilkinson and banned him from driving for three years.

Sheriff MacLeod said: “The fine would be higher if you didn’t stand to lose your job.”
