Driver hurt in collision

A MAN has suffered serious injuries in a head-on collision between a car and a van.

The incident, involving a Toyota Avensis and a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, took place at the A71 near Polbeth Industrial Estate, West Lothian, at around 2.30pm yesterday.

The car driver, who was believed to be conscious, was cut free by firefighters and taken to the ERI with abdominal and chest injuries.

The van driver is believed to have suffered minor injuries to his wrist.
