A DRUG addict stole £1200 from his dad after changing the user name and password on his internet banking.
Brian McCutcheon reported the fraud to his bank, but was told he could only have the cash back if he made a complaint to the police.
He was first alerted after receiving a text from the bank informing him a new transfer had been created on his account.
His 25-year-old son William McCutcheon, from Musselburgh, admitted the theft when he appeared at Haddington Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
Solicitor Robert Lowe told the court that his client was a heroin addict who was currently living at a B&B.
Sheriff Peter Braid deferred sentence for reports.
