Drug grower’s second chance

A CANNABIS grower has been given a chance to prove he’s quit smoking the drug.

Sheriff Martin Edington deferred sentence on Hugh Macinnes after hearing he had sought help after being charged.

At Livingston Sheriff Court yesterday, Macinnes, 52, pleaded guilty to producing herbal cannabis at his home in Winchburgh, West Lothian, on December 18 last year.

Gerry Bann, defending, said Macinnes had smoked the drug to ease severe back pain.

The sheriff said he was giving Macinnnes a chance to get into the Lothian and Edinburgh Abstinence Programme.
