The Met Office warning will be in place from 12.15am to 11.45pm on Monday and will cover the Lothian area.

Temperatures in Edinburgh are set to drop to -2C early on Sunday morning, with the chance of snow arriving in the Capital shortly after that.

A Met Office spokesman said: “Several centimetres of snow are possible, especially over hills, with drifting in strong winds.

“There is also the possibility of a few centimetres of wet snow gathering at lower levels.

“At present the extent and amounts of any snow are very uncertain and it is quite possible that snow might not be too disruptive.”
The yellow warning comes with advice that travel may be affected, and those heading out for Easter weekend in the Lothian area should check public transport for updates and prepare for potential road delays.
