Eco design is top of class

Six George Heriot’s School pupils are celebrating after winning a place in the finals of the 2012 National Science and Engineering Competition.

Silas Gibbins, Daniel Gilmore, Rachel Black, Catriona Davidson, Ellie Phelps and Beth Hadden excelled in the regional heats with their design for an eco classroom that used renewable sources of energy to create power.

They will now face students from across the country in an attempt to claim one of the UK’s most prestigious honours for young people.
