Edinburgh and Glasgow have been recognised as two of the best cities in the world to party.
Despite Glasgow’s reputation for a vibrant nightlife , it was the Scottish capital that came out on top in a recent survey examining the greatest cities in the world for an evening on the town.
Holiday rental search engine HomeToGo created a comprehensive guide to the best 50 cities for nightlife based on the number of venues, the number of events listed, and the quality of these events in online ratings. From the shortlist the researchers then rated each town on affordability and the average cost of a night out.
Edinburgh was the only UK city to make the top ten, coming in fifth, meaning it is the cheapest night out in the UK - although some residents may disagree!
Scotland’s largest city came 11th, with Cape Town, Warsaw and Sao Paulo taking the top spots.
The survey had four price factors for each area: the cost of entry, beer, long drinks and vodka shots.
